Ceremony Outline

Welcoming the guests

Opening - introducing the meaning of the day's celebration and your union.

Just the Two of You - This section is inspired by the conversations we've had prior to the wedding day. Through our meetings I've learned what makes you so special as a couple, how you met, what you love about each other and where you see union taking you.

Reading - (your choice). Often a bible verse, line from a poem or song lyrics.

Vows

If you choose to write your own vows (recommended), a common structure is to acknowledge some of the things you love about your partner. These can be funny and/or serious. Then you'd want to make 5-10 promises (vows) to your partner; these can also be funny and/or serious.

I will then ask each of you separately:

Do you (name), take (name) to be your (husband/wife/partner). To have and to hold, to love and to cherish...

Once done, I'll indicated for you to say, "I do".

Rings - I will ask you (one at a time) to place and hold the ring on your partner's finger and have you repeat some simple statements after me acknowledging the symbolism of the rings.

Imagery/Symbolism -

There are many special ways to celebrate your union with symbolism. Here are a few popular ones:

- Sand Ceremony

- Unity Candle

- Hand Fasting Ceremony
